We invite you to an intimate and reflective gathering centered around adoptee experiences of reunion. This event will feature selected readings from In Reunion, a powerful collection of narratives by Sara Docan-Morgan about adoptees navigating the emotional landscapes of searching, finding and reconnecting with first family.
After we engage with excerpts from the book, we’ll move into a fishbowl-style discussion—an open format with an inner circle for conversation and an outer circle for listening and reflection. The inner circle will be reserved for adoptees who are currently in, or have been through, the search and/or reunion process. This creates space for those with lived experience to be in dialogue with each other and with the themes from the book, while others are invited to witness, reflect, and listen.
You don’t need to have read the book to join us—this gathering is about community and connection. Whether reunion is part of your story, something you're exploring, or simply something you're curious about, we invite you to share, listen and just be.
We'll also be raffling off a copy of the book during the event!
We’ll be heading to Go Go 7 (1300 Ocean Ave) for dinner after the event—come for good food, good company and deeper connection.
A special thanks to Damaris Altomerianos, Amanda Lecher and Christy Zaragoza for envisioning, shaping, and leading this event.
