Join AKA-SF and Artist Judy Kim for a Bojagi Workshop!
Join AKA-SF and Judy Kim for a creative and cultural hands-on workshop exploring the art of Bojagi (pronounced Bo-Ja-Gee)—the Korean tradition of wrapping and storing items with fabric. Judy will share the history and symbolism of this beautiful craft while guiding you through creating your own bojagi piece to take home.
As Judy describes:
“Bojagi is the Korean art of wrapping and storing items with fabric. It's a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and has been used for centuries. People use bojagi for gifts, lunches, and table settings. It's a symbol of respect and good luck. Often passed down, bojagi connects families and objects.”
In this workshop, participants will learn about the cultural meaning, design techniques, and practical uses of bojagi. All materials will be provided, and each participant will receive a bojagi wrap to take home. Enjoy Korean tea and traditional yakgwa snacks as you learn and create in a relaxed, communal setting.
