우리 Roots: Birth Family Search Panel & Discussion

RSVP HERE

AKASF is hosting a birth family search panel and discussion event. Unique to the Korean adoptee community, birth family search can be a complex, whirlwind process. From understanding where to start to navigating the lifelong journey, our community is here to help. Join us for a day to learn about Korean adoptee's stories searching for Korean birth family in a safe, sacred space.

💬 WHAT TO EXPECT:

Search Process Panel: We’ll kick off the event with our panel featuring Kim Langworthy, Christy Zaragoza, and Zack Fraser to talk through the journey of birth family search, including different approaches to the search.

Featured Speaker: We will be joined by Global Overseas Adoptees’ Link (G.O.A.’L.) to provide an overview of their services and resources and to answer live questions from the audience. Korean-based organization G.O.A.’L. acts as a ‘link’ between adult adoptees and their native country by providing services and resources to its members, creating partnerships and collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations while serving the local and greater communities.

Search Phase Discussion Groups: We’ll then break out into discussion groups to dive into the phase adoptees are currently in and / or are interested in learning more about:

Lauren Cox will be leading the "Gathering Information" group

Song Joo Lee will be leading the "Search Pending" group

Amanda Lechar will be leading the "In Reunion" group
